The site was a former Jacobean mansion with later additions a few miles from Blandford Forum. A print of the mansion in about 1840 is shown. The mansion was demolished in the late 1950’s. In its place was erected a large timber cladded bungalow. This structure, regrettably, did not enhance its setting. But the site was enclosed by beautiful chalk downland and beech woods.
We worked closely with North Dorset District Council’ s able conservation officer to produce a suite of plans ready to submit with a planning application. At the last moment the owner decided to transfer the site to his son and we had to withdraw.
