Our son Joshua entered Port Regis preparatory school in autumn 1999. We made the move to Dorset from London but could not find a suitable house. We chose an end of village pebble dash house of much modesty in Motcombe very close to the school.
We retained the footprint and external walls of the main structure and built up the back and West sides to create a 7 bed 3 bath 3 reception house. The addition of 7 acres bought from the local farmer enabled us to build a tennis court, plant an orchard and create an equine exercise arena.
The roof was reconstructed with a bell cast down to the soffit. The soffit was substantial and made in hardwood bringing the eaves well out from the elevations. The mitre joints have not opened – after 18 years. The interior was made elegant and convenient as the images and floor plans convey.
